What do you do outside of volunteering?

That’s a tough question.  I am always in the midst of another “project” – it might be planting, painting or building something.  Then there is always a golf course to be played.  We travel a fair amount due to Karen’s work schedule and with our families living in the East.  It is a pleasure to have leisure time and simply walk the earth.

Volunteer Laura Matthew

Laura Matthew, our lovely Care Coordinator and new office assistant has been coming in to the Singleton Moms’ office every Friday, ready and willing to be of assistance.

She found Singleton Moms about two and half years ago when she was reading the newspaper. An article caught her attention and she clipped it and saved it for later. Just this year she came across Singleton Moms again, when reading about our Annual Lean on Me Walk. That is when she felt her calling.

A few years ago Deb Lusk saw a story about Singleton Moms on the local news. They were surprising one of the founders with a makeover on her car. She was moved by the compassion and dedication she saw in the Singleton Moms Founders and Volunteers.

Volunteer Alyssa Holmes
Alyssa Holmes is a charismatic 21 year old student at Grand Canyon University who is studying to receive her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Music.

She plans to continue on with her education after graduating at Dental School. When she is not in school, Alyssa is enhancing her knowledge of dental care and contributing positively to her community by volunteering at the Dental Clinic at St. Vincent De Paul. We are so glad she decided to become a part of our mission as well!

Volunteer Ashley Allen
Ashley Allen came to Singleton Moms in October of 2012. During Christmas she held a donation drive for the organization and by January of 2013 she was hooked up with a parent in our Care Coordinator role.

Ashley learned about Singleton Moms through her networking organization National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers (NAIFA). When she came into Singleton Moms to meet with her parent for the first time, she came bearing the gifts she had collected through the donation drive at her office. Ashley had boxes full of Bare Necessities and envelopes full of cash donations and gift cards.

Volunteer Christine Martin
Christine Martin is a thirty-nine year old single mother with two beautiful (and extremely helpful) children who are eight and five years old. After working for fourteen years in special events and hospitality, Christine decided on a career change, working in commercial real estate. She hasn’t always been all business. Before graduating from the University of Washington, she was a 4-year letter winner in women’s gymnastics. And more recently, Christine herself is a breast cancer survivor.
Volunteer Nancy Stirling

Nancy Stirling came to Singleton Moms over two years ago. She started out volunteering to clean homes. As she continued to connect with the families we serve and the mission of Singleton Moms, she became more involved. Currently Nancy is a Care Coordinator and a member of our Singleton Kids Committee…and we love her!

Volunteer Kiana Sears
Kiana Sears is a 38 year old wife and mother of two teens, 16 and 19, which consumes a lot of her energy. In her professional life she is a Public Utilities Consultant for the Arizona Corporation Commission.

With Singleton Moms she is a member of the Singleton Kids Committee and has been a Care Coordinator for several moms. Kiana loves to dance and socialize, learning about the diversity that the human experience offers. Meeting and sharing in the lives of people is her passion.
